Ask Colin

In general terms, how does your method work, and how would I monitor for opportunities?

I buy breakouts and hold for medium term trends. I find opportunities in several ways:

1. Look through the charts of all stocks, looking for breakouts. There is no real substitute for this if you want to find them all.

2. Run a system scan looking for 52-week new highs. Details of this method are in the mini-course on my subscription web site.

3. I look for undervalued companies using a fundamental scan of PE ratios. Details are again in the mini-course on my subscription web site.

4. I also find that the monthly MACD can throw up some interesting stocks before the breakout, so I can start to monitor them.
