I am not a day trader. I think that it is an extremely hard way to make a living. The research seems to say that only very special people become good day traders. I do not recommend day trading unless you already have a good track record trading equities in a longer time frame. A good track record means a better than 15% annual return over at least two years that includes at least one year of a bear market.
The best book I have read on short term trading and its realities is Come Into My Trading Room by Dr Alexander Elder. I suggest you start there.
After that, I am afraid I can't help, because I have not read the day trading books. There was a rash of them that came out in the 1990s. I suspect none will ever see a second edition.
