Today I bought PBB. Within 10 minutes it fell dramatically and I was unable to exit at my stop loss. A chairman's address also occurred today and possibly the cause. I prefer to purchase stocks when no information or meetings are pending. How do I find out when these meetings and releases are scheduled?

There are several ways you may track what is coming:

1. Read the Australian Financial Review. They often report upcoming meetings, release of results, announcements.

2. Find the company's web site on www.asx.com.au and check its calendar for results announcements, meetings etc.

3. Email the company and ask them.

4. Even faster is to phone them. Telstra will give you any company phone number in Australia. You generally want the head office. Yes it costs, but have you not just lost more than an STD phone call? Ask for investor relations manager in a large company or company secretary in a small one. Otherwise just say what you want and ask to talk to someone who could tell you. This is what professionals do.
