Ask Colin

How do you analyse and monitor your shares, without being in front of the computer everyday?

My trading plan calls for me to act on end of day data. Therefore I do not need to monitor prices during the day except in exceptional circumstance (a couple of times a year maybe).

I download the data each day and analyse it. First my portfolio. Then any alerts that I set that have been triggered.

Finally I read the Australian Financial Review thoroughly. Maybe I am a luddite, but I prefer that to the potted versions on the Internet. I look at the chart of any company I find news about. Only when I am travelling and do not have the printed version do I use the Internet version.
