Ask Colin

When looking for value stocks, what do you look at being the minimum volume normally traded per week or month, before even considering to trade the particular stock?

For me to consider trading a company it must:

  • Trade on most days
  • Trade in sufficient volume for me to get in and out in one lot. Especially getting out.

Most of the stocks in the top 500 will meet these criteria.

I will trade ONE or TWO less liquid shares at any one time, but only if they have very attractive charts.

I mostly check this visually by looking at a bar chart.
