Ask Colin

Where can I obtain a list of dates that dividends are paid?

It depends on whether you want upcoming dividends or historical dividends.

Announced upcoming dividends are published on

Mondays in the Australian Financial Review.

Continuously on the ASX web site www.asx.com.au.

If you are trying to estimate when a company is due to pay its dividend, the company web site (find its address through the ASX web site) may have projected dates, or they may be in their last annual report. Also, the Ninemsn Finance page for each company shows the last two payment dates.

My broker's website (CMC Markets) also shows the ex-dividend and payment dates for all companies - supplied generally two days after the dividend is announced by Morningstar.

Historical dividend dates and amounts will be more difficult. The Ninemsn Finance page will show up to ten years history for each company. However, it will not show the dates. For dates, the best way will beto go back to the company announcements on the ASX or your broker's website.
